Evening Classes
Evening Classes are an option for students who wish to supplement their daily schedule with additional classes. All courses are full credit and are based on Texas Education Agency (TEA) and Texas Career and College Readiness standards.  Evening classes are offered during the fall and spring semesters. Days of the week and course offerings vary by location.

Summer School
Summer programs provide students with the ability in earn high school credit by taking college preparatory courses that meet TEA and Texas Career and College Readiness standards. Summer courses are intensive 3 week sessions that meet every day.

Both our evening and summer school courses feature:

  • Experienced, qualified teachers 
  • Intensive 3 week sessions (summer school)
  • Flexibility for scheduling around vacations, jobs and extra-curricular activities (summer school)
  • Academic, TEA standards-based courses for high school graduation and Texas Career and College Readiness Standards-based courses for those taking the course for students preparing to go to college
  • Credits that are transferrable to Houston-area public schools

Virtual Course Offerings
If a student requires even greater flexibility, we also offer the option to participate in virtual school for courses required by the state of Texas for graduation. Students work with their teacher to complete coursework from home and visit the school for testing. Virtual Course offerings include English (1-4), Health, Business Computer Information Systems, Foundations of Fitness, Nutrition, Psychology, World Geography, World History, US History, U.S/ Government, Economics, Algebra (1 & 2), Geometry, Math Models, Pre-calculus, Integrated Physics & Chemistry, Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Life Skills. 

Prospective college athletes should be aware that HLA does not determine NCAA eligibility or NCAA criteria for recognizing high school courses and disclaims responsibility for students determined ineligible by NCAA based upon their HLA course selection.
